Architectural Designer (Hybrid)
At Browning Day, our portfolio spans a broad range of project types within civic, cultural, healthcare, higher education, hospitality, mixed-use, preservation and reuse, sports and wellness, and the workplace. Our success is based on the client's vision coming to life and includes a team of Architects, Interior Designers, Landscape Architects, and support staff who play a part in solving complex design problems. We are seeking a Designer who will add their skills and creativity to our diverse portfolio.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
- Incorporates and considers sustainable design solutions into projects.
- Supports conceptual designs that are practical, aesthetically pleasing, and code compliant.
- Prepares renderings or other visual aids to demonstrate preliminary designs for the design lead.
- Uses design applications to prepare and illustrate conceptual design plans.
- Supports project teams through all project phases, including design and construction.
- Completes general tasks that support project needs, such as routine verifications, research, compiling data, site visits, and providing updates.
- Ensures timely distribution of documentation of project deliverables, meetings, and transmittals to the project team.
- Supports the Construction Administration phase responding to RFIs, ASIs, and shop drawings, and is involved in field site reviews and reports.
- Provides regular updates to the Project Manager or Design Lead to ensure work is completed within the scope and schedule.
- Ensures documents align with Browning Day’s and the Project Manager’s document standards.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possesses creative talent in the communication of complex conceptual design ideas.
- Foster mutual trust and confidence by developing relationships.
- Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and provide high-quality work.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
- Proficient understanding or aptitude to learn the following:
- Site and building regulations and safety/ADA/FHA/zoning code.
- Design techniques and tools involved in production.
- Construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer appropriateness.
- Commonly used concepts and best practices within the profession.
- Architectural finishes, lighting, signage, etc.
- A proficient level of experience in the following:
- MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Revit, and 3D rendering software (Lumion & Sketchup).
- Experience with Affinity Photo, Designer, and Publisher is preferred.
- Satisfactory completion of background screening.
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited university.
- Internship experience 6+ months, preferred.
- Professional experience of 0-3+ years.
